Sally Lundburg

SALLY LUNDBURG - Founder of Frank Films: Director, Producer, Camera, Editor
Sally is an artist, photographer and filmmaker from the Big Island of Hawaii, who is fascinated with the many tools and techniques available to tell a visual story, both in mixed media, and through the moving image. She began creating short poetic essays in film 10 years ago, combining experimental film techniques with documentary sensibilities, and her work has been shown in galleries and film festivals both nationally and internationally. As a collaborative team, Sally and Elizabeth won several international film awards for their documentary work, including the le Prix de l'Aileron du Meilleur Film de Surf 2007 (Grand Prize: Best Surf Film of 2007) 2007 International Surf Film Festival du St. Jean de Luz. Sally holds a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from The San Francisco Art Institute. She and her husband Keith live in the mountains of the Hamakua Coast, where they raise native plants and trees, farm vegetables and spend many mornings hauling their surfboards and small daughter Kia'i to remote surf spots.
Sally's artwork can be seen at www.sallylundburg.com while her new venture is Mahia'i Creative, a Big Island based creative studio that cultivates social, cultural and environmental dialogue through innovative documentary films, photography and design. These projects include independently produced work, as well as media for non-profits and public agencies... for education, awareness and preservation.
